Public Art in Dysart

Dysart, Iowa, has a population of roughly 1400. It is situated amidst farm fields in East Central Iowa. Our town boasts a thriving business community, a beautiful City Park with a playing field, tennis courts and a gazebo. On the north end of town is a nature trail, bike path and an arboretum. Our swimming pool has slides and diving boards. The new Norma Anders Public Library is a place to meet and read and, like the newly renovated Community Building, is one of the most used buildings in Dysart.

Dysart has no art center or museum.

When the Vision Dysart committee formed following an Iowa Economic Development assessment, bringing the experience of art to our community was on our list. As we began to put forth a plan to incorporate art into our town, we looked no further than our city streets, the park, the bike path and the sides of buildings. Dysart may never have an art museum but that will not limit our ability to bring engaging and accessible visual art to our community.
