Making the Gorge Day 6 - Dysart Iowa

Today we had to take a step back and redefine our visual elements. The image was heading into too many directions and so today was pretty basic. Bill Wilson must have read my mind because I was wanting to create straight, sharp, defined vertical lines that would draw the viewers eyes toward the center of the Gorge. We had been using a chalk line previously, but this morning, besides repairing the leg of my pop-up tent, Bill had a spike driven at the vanishing point with multiple lines radiating to the outer tip of each edge. With the help of a painters tape, straight edges and a few sheets of cardboard, we were able to make gradating lines strengthen the visual effect. Thank you Bill.

Joleen Darnall Poyner, art instructor at Union High School took a personal day from work to help us on the Gorge once again, bringing with her four recent graduates. They worked tirelessly in the scorching heat. We knocked off early but felt confident that our project was back on track.
